I’ve walked 2.1 miles today, does that count for brownies?

Those look yummy. They need a big scoop of BlueBell Natural Vanilla Bean to go with them

Kinja'd!!!

My wife promised to bake brownies this weekend. She says I need to lose some weight, but then she makes brownies. I’m lost in the mixed messages.

Just cut back on the salad. It all averages out, right?

My wife is always on me about health stuff - cholesterol, weight, etc.  And the she buys candy, ice cream, unhealthy snacks, and beer! Its BS.

I walked the pupper 4.5 miles today.  Thats 1/4 of 18 miles so can I have 1/4 of a brownie, please?

Sure!

I’m really hoping this group trends healthy and I can take most of these home. And add ice cream as suggested above.

Sweet, thank you!

I need to get back into running. Way back when I was in the Navy I’d run 5 miles 5 times a week, so about 25 total. I actually cover more ground these days, but its walking Ozzy so its a slower pace, and spread over a whole day. But good on you for doing 18 miles!

Cut back or eat more salad ?!? See, you’re in on it too!

I actually do fairly well during the week. I just jump off the wagon with both feet every weekend.

I use Rover to get Shelly out when I’m traveling for work. It always cracks me up to get a GPS report of a walk where they covered 0.25 miles in half an hour.

I am supposedly training for a marathon. It’s pretty half-assed this year because the last one didn’t go great, but so far it’s feeling better than expected. Nothing really hurting afterwards and I haven’t felt like puking. If tomorrow feels good I guess I’ll need to find one to sign up for.

I did 6 tonight, so 1/3? I need to get my mileage up, but that will have to wait for the heat to take break in Houston. It was 82, 70% humidity,  and overcast when I ran at 5pm today, and it felt like a cold front.

It’s a “recovery week” for me - only 13 miles on Sunday. (Training for Portland in early October.) The brownies look good, though!

I’m assuming Oregon? Though they might both be the same weekend this year. That’s a week off of us, I’m considering the Green Mountain Marathon in Vermont again. Sea level is so appealing...

Physically I prefer running in the evenings, but yeah, the weather can certainly suck for it.

It’s a good escape.

Also, getting up at 4 and running 18 miles makes getting up at 4 and driving to the airport feel a whole lot better by comparison.

I didn’t comment, but was really jealous of your Leadville pacing. That is one of the really cool races. We stayed in Leadville over New Years and skied at Cooper, which was great for me and the kids (my wife thought it was a little to easy).  I’ve got a lot of travel this fall, but will get at least two half’s in, maybe more.

No such thing.

It was a truly amazing experience. I haven’t trail run at night in forever, and to be out there where it’s so dark and all you can see are headlamps and stars was pretty cool. I can’t say enough great things about the folks who work and volunteer at that race, too. (Also, thankfully no bears this time...the half/full weekend was a bit of an adventure!)

I got some free cucumbers so I decided to make pickles. Not sure what else to do with cucumbers, they’re pretty much a one-trick vegetable. Probably won’t be as tasty as your brownies, but I am going for a 12 mile hike tomorrow

I’ll accept mental  support as well. I just found a huge pile of dog poo by the front door after she refused to go out again before bed. Now I need to clean that up before leaving...

A bunch of our group did it...last year? The year before? The year they had all the issues. I haven’t run it  though.

I did run Maine, so was going to rave about it for a bit but I guess that won’t m atter :)

I can run 18 miles!
Unfortunately, it’s at a pace closer to slow jogging. And I need my music. And a backpack full of snacks. Plus lots of hydration. And maybe a change of shoes halfway.

OK it’s pretty much just walking.

I had a wild hair to do a 30-mile trail run next spring, but intentionally just above the slowest allowable pace, just to see if I could do it. I realized then that I simply don’t have the patience for distance running. Trails are 10x better than roads, but still.

(disclosure: The longest I’ve ever run was 6.5 mi, and that was broken up by obstacles which makes it more interesting)

That has really been my issue this year. Sheer boredom. Trails are fun but tiring, road running is repetitive and dull.

I still had my pack prepped for Leadville last weekend, speaking of snacks. So much junk food!
